WHO WE ARE

Whether you are new to the Parish or an existing Church member, Christ The King is a welcoming community of parishioners of all ages and many nationalities, plus a wonderful primary school, coming together to celebrate the Catholic faith.

OUR HISTORY

The Foundation Stone was laid on 25th October 1958 by Archbishop John Henry King and the opening of the church and the first Mass and consecration took place on 6th December 1959. In remembering we must positively move forward into a new era here at Christ the King Church, Whitley.

The Parish has coped with many changes over the years, but the parish community that is Christ the King Parish, has taken all in its stride and continues to grow and go from strength to strength.

Each subsequent Parish Priest has made changes and we thank all of them for their devotion and endeavours on our behalf Father Daniel Agbar is the 9th Parish Priest

CHRIST THE KING

This is a great Feast day in our Parish and having our Church named after our Christ the King of the Universe it is a privilege to celebrate it in such a vibrant community.

This feast day marks the final Sunday of the ecclesiastical year, the Sunday before the First Sunday of Advent and was introduced only fairly recently into the Liturgical Calendar by Pope Pius XI in 1925.

We are brought to our knees as we worship together as a community on our Feast day all the splendour and magnificence of our Lord Jesus Christ King of the Universe.
